Juniors have got some difficult decisions to make. Do they express their disappointment with the proposed contract through industrial action? If so, should they do a full walk-out? Will patients suffer? Will the GMC be breathing down their necks, as intimated?
At least they can count on some celebrity support. The actors that play the doctors in Holby City have offered their full support in the row over new contracts for medics.
Several big names from the BBC hospital drama have already spoken out in support of action including Rosie Marcel, who has played the surgeon Jac Naylor since 2005.
The 38-year-old mother said: “We all support the NHS. I remember being asked last year if I was having an NHS birth – I was like yes!”
Let’s hope that consultants – real ones, not TV ones – are as supportive, when they have to roll up their sleeves next month and provide cover in the run up to Christmas…
